History of this Congregation

The Holly Pond church of Christ began with five families of men, women and children on January 2, 1977. The Church met, initially, and for eighteen months in the residence basement of Sam, Genevieve, and Carl ponder while land was purchased and a building constructed at the present site on US Highway 278.

The Sixth Avenue church of Christ in Jasper, Alabama was very instrumental in the establishment and infancy of the Holly Pond church through their generous financial support and encouragement. They paid the preacher's salary and provided and helped raise funds for the purchase of the three acres of land and the construction of the meeting house.

Later the Church purchased two additional acres of land, giving the present 500' highway frontage.

Over the years, the Church has experienced a slow, steady growth of members dedicated to the restoration of the New Testament church, contented with the "old paths."

The Holly Pond church is led by three Elders and the preaching and teaching is done by them and other men in the congregation.

On January 6, 2008 a new building addition was completed (consisting of an Auditorium, a Foyer, a Cry Room, and additional Rest Rooms) and dedicated to the worship and work of God.
